Bird feeder attacks
About 2 weeks ago something started attacking our bird feeders. It’s something reasonably big because it bent a 1/2 thick shepherds crook all the way to the ground. I tried mounting it numerous places higher thinking it was something like a deer, to no avail. Then this morning I discovered these claw marks on the limb next to the feeder. I’m thinking a very large raccoon, porcupine or even a small bear. For scale the limb shown is about 5″ around. So I’m hanging the feeder well down and way from any limbs in hopes it will solve the problem. Black oil sunflower seed is too expensive to be going through it at this rate! If this doesn’t work I’m going to have to find a higher limb and go for the full PCT bear hang method.
