Lions Seeking Shade
About an hour into our Ngorogoro Crater floor drive, we can across a group of male lions that ended up being quite persistent about using our vehicles for shade. Basically, every time one of our guides moved their vehicle the lions gave them a dirty look, got up and again moved back into the vehicles shade. Eventually a group of a dozen plus vehicles surrounded the lions, which they were quite pleased with since it resulted in more shaded locations to take a nap. The pair of lions above are about 10′ from our Land Cruiser… so close that I almost couldn’t focus on them with my big lens. Close enough for me given humans are but a nice snack for a creature that can take down a full-grown cape buffalo.
A closeup of one giving me the evil eye… and yes, I do notice the paws that are about the size of my head… thank you very much kind sir for keeping your claws in… my underwear also thanks you.
